Pay it Forward Project
Xavier Charter School’s founding documents state that we are a school of service. Each student is asked to participate in, or do, a service project during the summer.
Students in grades kindergarten through 2nd grade can do a project with their family. Third through 12th graders will do their own individual project.
1. Each student to participate in a service project for someone outside their family.
-Ideas for projects might be to make cookies for an elderly neighbor, visit someone in an assisted living facility, do some yard work for a neighbor, help an elderly shopper bag their groceries, join a “Paint Magic “team, walk dogs at the animal shelter, etc. The possibilities are numerous. Please let people know you are from Xavier Charter School.
2. Make sure you get a picture of your project.
3. Write one paragraph explaining what you did and how it made you feel. Attach the picture to the page with your paragraph. Include your name (or all the names of those who worked with you.)
-Here is a Pay It Forward Form to use, or feel free to use your own creativity in reporting about your project.
4. Bring it to school in the fall on the first day of class.
What is the rationale for “Pay It Forward”? Marian Edelman once said that “Service to others is the rent we pay for living. It is the very purpose of life and not something you do in your spare time.” Experience the joy of service to others!
Have a wonderful summer!
