January Teachers of the Month

Congratulations to Heidi Sorensen and Bradley Hansen, our January Teachers of the Month!

Ms. Sorensen

Name:  Heidi Sorensen

Total Years of Teaching Experience: 7

Years of Teaching at Xavier: 6

Hometown:  Salt Lake City, Utah

Why did you choose teaching as a career:
Teaching was an obvious choice for me as my daughter, Annie, who has severe Autism, who has had both positive and negative experiences in the school system. I knew I needed to be a part in creating positive experiences for other students with disabilities.

What do you like most about teaching at Xavier?
Students at Xavier Charter School demonstrate respect for students whom I serve. These are students who would otherwise be ignored, bullied, and/or ridiculed at other schools in the valley. My special ed staff is simply AMAZING!

When you are not teaching and working, what are you most likely to be doing?
I am most likely on a cruise or at any beach!!!!!

What do you wish your students knew about you?
I wish my students knew how much they each mean to me and that I only want the very best for them.

Is there any other information about yourself that you would like to share?
I’m extremely sarcastic…. can you believe it?!?! 🙂
