Jessica SmithName: Jessica Smith

Total Years of Teaching Experience: 4.5

Years of Teaching at Xavier: 1

Hometown: Dunbarton, NH

Why did you choose teaching as a career?
I chose to become a dance teacher because I love to see the positive impact that the arts have on education. I knew that dance had the power to help my students gain confidence, learn to collaborate, and think creatively and I wanted to see that happen every day.

What do you like most about teaching at Xavier?
I love how much the arts are valued. I also love seeing how much my students grow each semester. They are internally motivated, and that their efforts blow me away each performance.

When you are not teaching and working what are you most likely doing?
I am most likely choreographing dances in my head.

What do you wish your students to know about you?
I wish they knew how much I love teaching them, and how proud I am of their efforts!
